Bird houses, hand-picked in person.
We started Gardenou because we wanted the kind of bird houses we'd actually hang in our own garden — not the ones we kept finding online. So we went looking for them ourselves.
It started with a garden and a question.
We hung a bird house in the garden and waited. Weeks passed. Nothing arrived.
When we looked closer, we understood why. The entry hole was the wrong size. The wood smelled sharp. It was a decoration pretending to be a bird house.
So we started paying attention — to entry sizes, to paint types, to the shapes that actually attract birds.
And we noticed something else: most bird houses sold online are written by people who've never tested one.
We don't order from catalogues. We visit.
Every piece on Gardenou has been held, inspected, and approved in person — one by one, on the shelf.
What you see is what arrives.
I started Gardenou because I got tired of guessing.
I'm Btissame. I run Gardenou from the UK, and I'm the one you'll email if something goes wrong with your order.
I didn't come from retail. I came from a garden. When the first bird house I bought turned out to be wrong for the birds I wanted, I started paying attention — reading, asking, travelling, comparing.
Now every few months I fly out to meet our suppliers in person. I bring back photos, notes, samples. I also bring back a list of designs we said no to — usually twice as long as the list we said yes to.
"If I wouldn't hang it in my own garden, it doesn't go on Gardenou."
Held in hand. Chosen for your garden.
Every piece passed the same test: we saw it, we held it, and we'd hang it in our own garden.
